My name is Kaye. I’m the eldest in our family of 3 (with my two brothers and my son) – my mom being a single mother. This is the reason I decided to write our story. We could not ask for a better mother. Despite the challenges our family has faced – my mother has been our Rock.
She’s always found ways to keep us in school, takes the time to take care of us and at the same time balances an 8-to-5 job. The biggest proof I have of my mother’s constant love is when she supported my decision to have a son without placing any judgment at all.
And now, early in April, we were told of a devastating news that she has Stage 3 breast cancer. My immediate thought was how to help her. I am too young to be able to contribute financially, but I can still do something about my mother’s condition.
Through this crowdfunding app, I am appealing to your generous hearts to help raise funds for her medical and hospital bills. Even before getting chemotherapy, she has already spent Php100,000 for laboratory test, citiscans, and biopsy procedures. We’re grateful for her HMO, but it is not enough to cover for all hospital and medical bills.
She has to undergo chemotherapy six times and each time costs P75,000 – that’s not even including hospital bills, other medications, and doctor’s fees. Add in another P30,000, that means we need Php100,000 for every treatment. I have heard her consult with doctors and friends asking where she can get funding from local government agencies and similar programs such as PCSO, DSWD for patients who need financial assistance.
I hope to raise around US$10,000 (or Php500,000) to defray her medical bills. If you can spare a bit of time to tell your friends about our situation by sharing this link, our family will be most grateful.

Most of all, we value your prayers. Please pray for her fast recovery and for strength in her mind and body as the chemotherapy is taking a toll on her physical well being.

Messages of hope and encouragement has kept me sane and positive these past months. One of my favorite quotes runs like this:
“Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.”
Yes, human as I am, I still worry a lot though I try to keep schedules at home and at work follow the same routine as much as possible. I worry about the kids, the effect of the medication on my health, the medical bills, and funnily, I worry about my hair. What will people say when I have to wear this head turban? So I learn to became braver and more self-assured in order to weather this storm.
There are new discoveries about myself that I hadn’t realized before. And the strength that comes from within is all attributed to God’s grace and the faith to keep in His path. All my family and friends giving love and support made the burden somewhat lighter.
I cannot express my thanks enough. Thank you for staying with me through this ordeal. There are still challenges to face, bills to be paid, but I know I am not alone in this journey.
