My name is Kaye. I’m the eldest in our family of 3 (with my two brothers and my son) – my mom being a single mother. This is the reason I decided to write our story. We could not ask for a better mother. Despite the challenges our family has faced – my mother has been our Rock.
She’s always found ways to keep us in school, takes the time to take care of us and at the same time balances an 8-to-5 job. The biggest proof I have of my mother’s constant love is when she supported my decision to have a son without placing any judgment at all.
And now, early in April, we were told of a devastating news that she has Stage 3 breast cancer. My immediate thought was how to help her. I am too young to be able to contribute financially, but I can still do something about my mother’s condition.
Through this crowdfunding app, I am appealing to your generous hearts to help raise funds for her medical and hospital bills. Even before getting chemotherapy, she has already spent Php100,000 for laboratory test, citiscans, and biopsy procedures. We’re grateful for her HMO, but it is not enough to cover for all hospital and medical bills.
She has to undergo chemotherapy six times and each time costs P75,000 – that’s not even including hospital bills, other medications, and doctor’s fees. Add in another P30,000, that means we need Php100,000 for every treatment. I have heard her consult with doctors and friends asking where she can get funding from local government agencies and similar programs such as PCSO, DSWD for patients who need financial assistance.
I hope to raise around US$10,000 (or Php500,000) to defray her medical bills. If you can spare a bit of time to tell your friends about our situation by sharing this link, our family will be most grateful.

#Update
Fondly called 'Dimpy' by close friends and relatives, my mother has gone through two chemotherapy treatments last June 13 and July 4. I'd like to update you all on her condition. She spent a whole day for each session at the hospital. Even when she is alone in the center, she was in good spirits and stayed strong for us kids. However, five days after, she was feeling pain in her bones and general fatigue all over her body.
She was in good spirits that day. However, five days after, she was feeling pain in her bones and general fatigue all over her body.
The second treatment was today, July 4. From your financial donations, we were able to use P3,000 for the balance of doctor’s fees and P10,000 for the after chemo injectables as these fees and medicines were not covered by her HMO.
We worry that her WBC count might not be enough to sustain her during this period. This means she will need additional medication / vitamins to make sure her body is able to cope. We saw her fight the nausea as she tried to eat even if it’s bitter. She keeps up with her exercise by moving about, walking, and riding the stationary bike just to gain back her strength.
She keeps telling me “C will never win, I will fight and win this battle”. She never shows her pain, and always assures us that she is okay. I also pray that my mom will win this battle and sustain all side effects along her chemotherapy cycles and continue to have the positive mindset and strength.
You won’t be able to tell from the outside how much she’s worried because I know she’s staying strong for us kids.
