My name is Kaye. I’m the eldest in our family of 3 (with my two brothers and my son) – my mom being a single mother. This is the reason I decided to write our story. We could not ask for a better mother. Despite the challenges our family has faced – my mother has been our Rock.
She’s always found ways to keep us in school, takes the time to take care of us and at the same time balances an 8-to-5 job. The biggest proof I have of my mother’s constant love is when she supported my decision to have a son without placing any judgment at all.
And now, early in April, we were told of a devastating news that she has Stage 3 breast cancer. My immediate thought was how to help her. I am too young to be able to contribute financially, but I can still do something about my mother’s condition.
Through this crowdfunding app, I am appealing to your generous hearts to help raise funds for her medical and hospital bills. Even before getting chemotherapy, she has already spent Php100,000 for laboratory test, citiscans, and biopsy procedures. We’re grateful for her HMO, but it is not enough to cover for all hospital and medical bills.
She has to undergo chemotherapy six times and each time costs P75,000 – that’s not even including hospital bills, other medications, and doctor’s fees. Add in another P30,000, that means we need Php100,000 for every treatment. I have heard her consult with doctors and friends asking where she can get funding from local government agencies and similar programs such as PCSO, DSWD for patients who need financial assistance.
I hope to raise around US$10,000 (or Php500,000) to defray her medical bills. If you can spare a bit of time to tell your friends about our situation by sharing this link, our family will be most grateful.

Most of all, we value your prayers. Please pray for her fast recovery and for strength in her mind and body as the chemotherapy is taking a toll on her physical well being.
#Update
For the past 3 months, I’ve been trying to get used to the treatment cycles - the feeling of fatigue and discomfort that goes deep inside my bones 1-2 days right after chemotherapy. It takes so much mental and physical strength to make it through the day. There are good days and bad days, but life around me goes on. My children and grandson need me. I have responsibilities at work and to my staff in the office.
During heavy rains and dirty flood water seeped into the house, the refrigerator conked out because of the flood water, or when our water supply gets cut off, I need to deal with these problems - whether I am feeling up or down, things needed to get done. Resilience is not just a word to me - given what I have been through, resilience is something I needed, I’ve felt and slowly mustered.
At the time when Christmas was just a few days away, I thought about what gives me strength. Without a doubt, my children and the little one have been my rock and inspiration. And I think about all the goodness that have happened in my life as well. The get-together with friends, surprise well-wishers local and abroad, support from the company I work for - these are the gems in my life and I am ever so grateful.
Thank you for the continued prayers and financial support. I will not be okay - if not for you all - my gratitude for giving me the courage to fight. May you all be blessed this 2024. Happy New Year!
