In the Philippines, there are no bookshops that carry self-published books. There is no place for Indie authors to showcase their works without agreeing to pay 40% of the gross sales of their books to a retail shop. This leads to self-published authors joining bazaars and community events to showcase their creative works.
I want to help change that landscape by building the first-ever Indie Books Wonderland.
I will build a two-story Book Shop, a total of 100 square meters. The first floor will be for the books, while the second floor will be a small events place/ reading corner where authors can launch their books for free. There will also be a small coffee bar where patrons can purchase their books. There will also be a small spot for traditionally published books because, in this bookshop, we don't discriminate, but priority will be given to self-published works.
This move will potentially open more doors for Self-published authors as more people get invested or interested in the idea. With the first Indie Book WOnderland's success, I plan on opening another one by next year.
