We are two partners, one a carpenter and the other a salesperson and we are interested in how to reduce our impact on the planet. Creators of a carpentry company, we want to contribute in our own way to sustainable development, we do not believe that consumable furniture is the future.
We have several niches: kitchen, bathroom, dressing room ... and what we want to develop for the future is sustainable furniture in raw wood with a minimum of gluing (not ecological)
Today the observation is that the mode of consumption must change, become again like our old ones. We have to start respecting nature again and designing furniture that is sustainable. For the moment, we only have one piece of furniture which is that of the bathroom. Tomorrow, we want to offer the whole range of furniture that makes up a house.
In order to have an approach, as coherent as possible. As soon as it is possible to use Hevea, we will give preference to it. Indeed, it is environmentally friendly. It is a wood which is used as a rubber tree and which after 26-30 years has its latex yield which becomes too low. When the planters cut it down and make new plants. So unlike other woods that are cut for the sole purpose of producing furniture, rubberwood is only used after it has completed its production cycle.
What will the collection be used for
The fundraising will be used to develop a line of furniture in durable and eco-designed raw wood (no glue, search for wood that consumes less energy).
The stages to develop will be the design, purchase the material, the raw materials, manufacture and distribute the furniture.
Breakdown of the collection:
- $ 5,000 for specific woodworking equipment. (router, sander, milling machine, circular saw, vacuum cleaner, planer, trimmer, drill, saw)
- $ 3,500 of raw materials.
- $ 1,500 rental of premises. (starting bid for the first rents)
If the fundraising exceeds our expectations, we can do a much larger communication campaign.
