My name is Gilyn Dela Torre, a 27-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) currently based in Saudi Arabia. I am writing to humbly ask for your compassion and support as I face the toughest challenge of my life — fighting chronic kidney disease. On February 5, 2025, I was rushed to King Abdullah Medical Complex after experiencing severe dizziness, and noticeable swelling in my face and legs. After a series of tests — including lab work, ultrasound, and CT scan — I received the heartbreaking diagnosis: chronic kidney disease. The scans revealed that both of my kidneys had already shrunk and were no longer functioning properly. I was immediately started on lifesaving dialysis, which I now undergo three times a week. As an OFW, I have always worked hard to support my loved ones back home. But this unexpected illness has left me emotionally and financially devastated. The ongoing cost of dialysis, medications, and medical care is more than I can bear alone. Without urgent and consistent support, I fear I may not be able to continue the treatment that keeps me alive.
