The Wrigley family is fighting brain cancer with the help of this fundraising for their 10-year-old son, Aedan.
You don't frequently get the chance to personally give someone the positive karma they deserve in life, but if you're reading this right now, you have that chance.
My sister Desiree came up with the concept to build a website that would make it simple for individuals to send money to one another in 2007. She developed this tiny concept into GiveForward, the first medical expense crowdfunding website in history. Along with her co-founder Ethan, she assisted hundreds of families in raising HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS of dollars to pay for their own medical requirements as they managed various medical situations. It is now our responsibility to provide her and her family with the love and financial assistance they require to get through the difficult year ahead of them.
Background
On September 15, 2024, my sister was informed by a doctor in the emergency room of Lurie Children's Hospital in downtown Chicago that her youngest son Eathan had a huge tumour found on his fast brain MRI. After performing an emergency treatment that evening to relieve pressure on his brain, a neurosurgeon removed a tennis ball-sized tumour that was growing at the base of his skull three days later.
For the following week, Desiree and her husband John resided in the hospital and provided Eathan with unwavering care while he battled some of the post-operative complications throughout his intense rehabilitation. He is a young man full of determination and athletic ability, and he fought hard to earn the opportunity to return home. Only two people who have dedicated their lives to serving others can truly support one another with such patience and depth as Desiree and Devid did for him.
We waited to find out if Eathan's tumour was benign or malignant while he worked in physical therapy. Despite the love and prayers of friends and family from all over the world, the pathology results that were returned showed that the tumour is malignant and will need to be treated for up to nine months.
Next Steps
The Wrigleys are embarking on a protracted and difficult journey, as informed by the Northwestern neurosurgeon who removed Eathan's tumor. The family is hopeful, but swift action and vigorous care are needed to guarantee Eathan has a lovely and healthy future. The family has chosen to receive treatment at St. Jude in Memphis, TN, after consulting with specialists throughout the nation who are familiar with Eathan's particular form of tumor.
