Hi friends and connections,
A few months ago, my dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer - it was a series of hospital trips, sleepless nights, and constant fear of losing a father. As a family, we have to tighten our belts because medical treatments here in the Philippines are extremely expensive. Chemotherapy sessions would cost $300 for every cycle (14 days) and it was advised to do 6 cycles. Aside from this, my father had a Colostomy procedure that would help flush out waste in a bag and a catheter inserted so he could pass urine. We still have a lot of expenses to cover moving forward - from his milk supplement, medications, ostomy bag, laboratory tests, and savings for frequent hospital trips.
I know times are tough lately and everyone is struggling to live day by day. Truly, it's way harder for us, a family living in a third-world country to sustain all of these. Both my parents are retired and can no longer work and as the eldest among 2 children, I have solely taken on the responsibility of sustaining our household, send my brother to school and taking care of our parents.
Thankfully, I have a job and very generous employer who helped me out, they covered some of our medical bills which I'm really grateful. I was also able to fulfill my responsibilities as the breadwinner because of the opporunity they have given me but given the current situation but it's really a difficult time for us financially and we couldn't barely make ends meet despite this.
I'm taking my chances now to seek a little help in giving my father a best shot in living the time he has left. Any amount no matter how big or small will come a long way and would be wholeheartedly appreciated by our family.
May God return all your kindness a hundred fold!
