Our beloved mother, Luce Renegado, 65/F, who has always been a devoted wife, an incredible mother, the best grandmother, a loving sister, a joyful aunt, a cherished cousin, and a dear friend, is currently in the ICU. She is in a coma, fighting valiantly for her life.
On the night of August 26, Mama developed a fever. Papa administered medicine to bring her temperature down, and while her vitals were normal initially, her temperature remained high. Despite receiving a second dose of medication, her condition worsened, and by 1:30 AM on August 27, her oxygen levels dropped significantly. We rushed her to the emergency room.
At the ER, Mama went into cardiac arrest. Thanks to the swift efforts of the medical team, she was revived but remains in critical condition. The doctors have advised us to gather as a family and prepare ourselves for any outcome. This has been one of the most terrifying moments of our lives.
My brother, sister, and I, together with our papa, rushed to her side, and our extended family and close friends have come together in support, offering prayers and comfort. Despite our hopes, Mama has shown no movement or response to stimuli.
The doctors have given us 48 to 72 hours to observe any signs of improvement. Though her CT scan shows no damage to the brain stem, it didn’t show the same for the upper brain as it’s still hypoxic affecting most of her brain functions. Mama’s condition remains unchanged and we have been faced with a difficult decision. Papa, my siblings, and I are resolved to continue her treatment. If Mama is still fighting, we are determined to fight alongside her, no matter how long or costly this journey may be. We believe that as long as there is life, there is hope, and we are committed to doing everything in our power to support her.
As we approach two weeks in the ICU, Mama remains stable but still deeply unconscious. While we have managed to cover the costs thus far, our resources are depleting. We are profoundly grateful for your prayers and support, but we now find ourselves in urgent need of financial assistance. The hospital bills are rising daily, and we have had to purchase many of Mama’s medications from outside sources to save costs.
We have sought help from government agencies, but the assistance has been exhausted. We are reaching out to you with heavy hearts and appealing to your kindness to ask if you might consider helping with Mama’s medical expenses. Any amount you can spare will make a significant difference.

“Thank you for the partial payments you have made amounting to P215,000.00.
This is to inform you that your outstanding balance is P276,549.47 and already exceeds the hospital's allowed credit limit or your insurance's LOA.
Please make partial payment with Billing Section or you may refer to your Patient Portal to view the SOA and scan the QR Code to make online payment.
