My Health Journey: A Story of Resilience For the past few months, I’ve been dealing with persistent stomach pain and occasional bouts of nausea that I initially brushed off as stress-related. However, about a week ago, the pain became unbearable, and I noticed something alarming—dark, tarry stools and even traces of blood when I vomited. I knew something was seriously wrong. I rushed to the hospital, where they immediately admitted me for tests. The doctors ran several blood tests and a fecal occult blood test, both of which confirmed significant internal bleeding. After a detailed discussion with the gastroenterologist, I was informed that I most likely had a bleeding ulcer, which is a type of sore that forms on the lining of the stomach or small intestine. When left untreated, it can lead to serious complications like severe blood loss and even perforation of the stomach wall. Given the severity of my symptoms, the doctors scheduled me for an urgent **colonoscopy** to rule out any issues in my lower digestive tract, and an **upper endoscopy** (esophagogastroduodenoscopy or EGD) to examine my esophagus, stomach, and the upper part of my small intestine. The EGD is particularly crucial to pinpoint the exact location of the ulcer and assess the damage to my esophagus, as I’ve been experiencing severe acid reflux as well. The next few days will be critical. The bleeding ulcer needs immediate attention, and depending on the findings from the colonoscopy and endoscopy, I may need further treatment, including medications to reduce stomach acid and possibly surgery to repair any significant damage. This has been a frightening experience, but I’m staying positive and trusting my doctors. I’m sharing this story not just to update everyone but also to emphasize the importance of listening to your body. Ignoring the symptoms only made things worse, and I’m now facing a tough recovery ahead. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I navigate this challenging time. I hope you join me in my journey to healing. Thank you.
