Hello everyone! I am Jennilyn F. Gutierrez, the younger brother of Jose Fernandez Gutierrez who is currently living with me in Quezon City, Philippines. My brother Jose was recently diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease (Chronic Kidney Disease Stage 5) Secondary to Diabetes Mellitus. Also has heart failure and asthma since birth. He was admitted three times this April 2023 onwards at the emergency of National Kidney Institute and Transplant. He was required to undergo regular hemodialysis to avoid further complications. He does his hemodialysis through an IJ catheter in his neck. He has edema from his feet up to his face. He is also immobile, unable to stand and walk. He also has internal bleeding, was advised to undergo colonoscopy procedure but unfortunately that did not push through because he was tested positive of COVID 19 and it is not safe for him to undergo the said procedure. He was transferred to a Covid 19 facility hospital. It has been two days since we saw him, although cellphone is allowed for the patient to use inside the hospital, but sadly my brother does not have a cellphone we cannot avail one as of this time due to our hospital bill that we need to settle. We are under promissory note and our family really do not know where to get money to settle his bills from the previous hospital and to the current hospital where he is admitted right now. My brother depends on me. I do have a job, but sadly I cannot sustain or support all his medical needs. My salary is not enough to cover all his needs and putting me in debt due to his lab tests, dialysis sessions, doctor’s fee and medicines. His medications are very costly and does not have HMO coverage. He has a sponsored Philhealth but can only help to a certain extent. I am worried that I cannot sustain the expenses of his dialysis sessions and medications. We tried to ask help from charitable institutions and government agencies but as of this writing I was only given a guaranty letter for his medicines for a week or two. I am knocking on your good hearts to please help us to pull through with our situation, I really want my brother to see him walk again and get better. May I just share also that my brother did not even graduate from elementary education, but he works hard and did everything to help my other brothers to send me to school and finish college. I will be forever grateful to them. I am begging all of you who can read this, please help us. We will be grateful if you can also share this to other online platforms. Thank you and God Bless all of you!
